Caching and Offline Availability
When working with data that are stored in a PAK cloud depot it gets interesting what happens, if the network connection between the PAK cloud and your PAK client is not so performant or if you want to work with your data in a place where you do not have a network connection at all.
Caching
When using data e.g. in a graphic output PAK caches the data you just displayed. This means that a second output of the same data will take the data from the local cache instead of from PAK cloud depot. Caching is organized intelligently inside PAK and cannot be configured by the user. PAK only caches the channels and data types that are really used. It does not cache the whole measurement.
Offline availability
In contrast "Offline availability" is completely meant for configuration by the user. In PAK data viewing you can select measurements from your content collection and "Enable offline availability".
The process of copying the data from PAK cloud to your computer is designed asynchronously and continues even if you close PAK
In the tabular view, you will see a progress bar for each selected measurement during the offline availability process. As soon as the data are made offline available you will also see a date until which the data will be kept locally. This date will increase each time you use the data. Of course, you can manually delete the data from offline storage with the menu item "Delete offline data"
